Field Notes: Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta

  • The Oenophile Institute 1295 W Spring St Smyrna, GA, 30080 United States (map)

Who It's For: Italian wine collectors, Barbera and Piedmont devotees, advanced students, sommeliers, and anyone who likes their masterclasses with a healthy dose of just-off-the-plane reporting.

The Incisa della Rocchetta family is one of the oldest noble names in Piedmont, with centuries of history tied to the land around Rocchetta Tanaro in the heart of the region. Their winemaking tradition is deeply rooted in Barbera and the native grapes that have long defined Piedmontese drinking, and the estate itself sits at the intersection of serious wine history and genuine working-vineyard tradition.

Ted just returned from a visit to the property and is bringing the kind of detail you only pick up by walking the vineyards and sitting with the people who make the wine. The soil work. The vineyard decisions. The parts of the production that do not make it into print. We taste through a focused flight from the estate, cover the family’s long history in the region, and dig into the details that make this one of the properties serious Piedmont drinkers keep coming back to.

Due to the nature of these wines a minimum of 6 attendees must be registered for class to be held.
