Think you know Beaujolais? Time to meet the whole family. Beaujolais Nouveau Day is a global tradition, and we love it for what it is. It is also a great excuse to spend the evening with the more serious side of the region. While the rest of the world races through the year's youngest release, we are taking the long way through the cru villages.
The ten crus stretched across the northern half of Beaujolais each carry their own soils, exposures, and traditions, and they use those differences to shape Gamay into ten meaningfully distinct wines. Morgon does not drink like Fleurie. Moulin-à-Vent does not drink like Chiroubles. Once you can hear the differences, the region opens up in a way the appellation-level wines never quite allow.
