WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

This certification is designed for both wine industry professionals and enthusiasts who want to expand their knowledge. It offers a comprehensive understanding of grape cultivation and wine production for those who want to delve deeper into the world of wine.

While completion of WSET Level 2 Award in Wines prior to registering for WSET Level 3 Award in Wine is strongly recommended, it is not a prerequisite per WSET. However, we do require any who wish to take WSET 3 without previous WSET coursework to contact Chelsea to confirm preparedness and previous knowledge for this advanced course.

This course will expand your knowledge of wines extensively by offering a thorough exploration of the world of wines, emphasizing a systematic and professional approach to wine tasting. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of all major grape varieties and wine styles produced around the world, including the factors that influence their style and quality. Through guided tastings of around 80 benchmark wines, you will actively participate in calibrating your palate to your WSET-Certified instructor.

Upon completion of WSET Level 3, you'll be able to:

  • Understand the key elements of wine production, including grape growing, location, winemaking, maturation, and bottling

  • Identify the distinguishing characteristics of still, sparkling, and fortified wines from different regions

  • Evaluate wines using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting® for blind tasting assessments.

Earning the WSET Level 3 certification is challenging, but we equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for success. Our program emphasizes the WSET approach to thinking, so you not only learn the material but also understand what is expected on test day.
