WSET Level 2 Award in Wines

If you're seeking a deeper understanding of the world's wine styles and regions, WSET Level 2 offers an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge.

While completing WSET Level 1 Award in Wines prior to registering for WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is recommended, it is not a prerequisite.

This course is designed to help you attain the following skills by the end of WSET Level 2:

  • Recognize the primary grape varieties cultivated globally and the different styles produced from them, including sparkling and fortified wine.

  • Interpret label information to comprehend a wine's quality and style.

  • Understand general wine cultivation and winemaking techniques.

  • Refine your tasting skills using WSET's Level 2 Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting (SAT).

To acquire this certification, a minimum of 29 hours of study time is required, which includes:

  • 17 hours of instruction time with a WSET course provider, either in a classroom or online.

  • 12 hours of self-study and review.

The WSET Level 2 can be completed in 6 weekly classes or a short, 3-day intensive.

Assessment: A closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions

**Note: If you have strong foundational wine knowledge or actively work in the wine industry you do not need to take WSET Level II before enrolling in WSET Level III.
