WSET Level 1 Award in Wines | 2 Week In-Person Course

Students must attend all of the following course dates:

  • Saturday January 24th 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm

  • Saturday January 31st 2026 10:00am - 1:30pm

Please note short 15 minute breaks will be given but lunch will not be provided.

Looking to learn about wine? Our WSET Level 1 course equips you with the essential skills to talk and taste like a pro.

There is no previous knowledge necessary to enroll in this course.

This course guides you through exploring various wine styles using your senses of sight, smell, and taste. You'll also learn crucial principles related to wine storage and service.

  • During this course, you will learn about:

    • The primary types and styles of wine

    • The key characteristics of commonly used wine grape varieties

    • Proper wine storage and serving techniques

    • The fundamental principles of pairing food and wine

    • How to use the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT) to describe wine accurately.

    This qualification has a minimum requirement of 5.25 hours of study time, in a classroom or online, with a WSET course provider. This will be divided over 2 course days.

    Please note short 15 minute breaks will be given but lunch will not be supplied.

  • Assessment: A 45 minute closed-book examination comprised of 30 multiple-choice questions during the final course day on January 31st, 2026 at approximately 1:00pm.

Course materials may be picked up at The Vineyard Wine Market during business hours or mailed to you for a small additional fee.
