THE 2ND ANNUAL UNUSUAL SUSPECTS COMPETITION

Are you ready to put your taste buds to the test and take a walk on the wild side? Join Kelly Cornett of A Cork in the Road Podcast for a blind tasting competition like no other.

Seven wines will be poured, each from a variety or region that is on the fringe of testable (or not at all) according to CMS and WSET.

Think you can identify a Finger Lakes Riesling or a South African Cabernet Sauvignon? This is your chance to prove it!

Not sure you can or just want to watch others try? Purchase a ticket to try the wines and root on your friends without any pressure.

PRIZES:

1st Place: $200, trophy, street cred, and a future guest spot on A Cork in the Road Podcast

2nd Place: $50 and some street cred.

150 min / $55 / 7 wines

Competition: Anyone can enter, anyone can win

  • 3 round competition. 1st round 3 white wines with the top 2 scores moving on. 2nd round 3 red wines with top 2 scores moving on. Final 4 from first two rounds battle with 7th surprise bottle. Winner takes all.

  • The competition will be graded on a point system with one point for each of the following: climate, country, region, variety, and vintage.

  • Wines will be taken down in written form by competitors. After answers are collected, Kelly will guide the entire room through the deduction process and reveal the wines. All attendees and competitors will taste all 7 wines.

  • Styles will be classic examples of variety/region - no natties, blends, uncommon winemaking, sparkling, or fortified.
